Dating as far back as 2,700 B.C., ancient Eastern Chinese cultures practiced massage have been discovered adorned with images of figures being massaged. In addition, according to traditional Indian medicine, a system known as Ayurveda, therapeutic massage was performed using a variety of Roman heroes - such as the great Julius Caesar - underwent daily massages to treat nerve pain.

In the Western culture, the most practiced form of massage is undoubtedly Swedish massage. First introduced in the 19th century, Swedish masseuses were thought to have borrowed many of their techniques from traditional China, Egypt, Greece, and Rome masseuses. A variety of the most effective massage techniques have also been incorporated into other complementary therapies - aromatherapy, Reiki, reflexology, Rolfing, Amma therapy and osteopathy.

Swami Michael-ji utilizes techniques such as Thai Yoga Massage, Integrative Swedish-Muscle Energy, Myofascial Release, and Chinese Acupressure ( TuiNa Medical Massage).

Hypnotherapy can assist in many ways:

  • Lose weight and keep it off, even if you have gained all your life.
  • Quit smoking using self-hypnosis.
  • Be free of physical pain.
  • Convert positive thoughts into positive changes in your life.
  • Handle stress and be more aware of your physical reaction to stress and be more mentally alert of your body's reaction to stress before it becomes a physical symptom.
  • Improve friendships and your relations with spouse and others.
  • Get to know people who are more interesting and exciting than you (and get away with it).
  • Develop a better attitude. Control generally unhappy moods.
  • Control jealousy.  Take control of your mind's reaction to emotions and your thoughts.
  • Perform better at sports. Be more relaxed while playing and enjoy the game more.
  • Improve memory and concentration.   Be able to remember minute details with little effort.
  • Improve career success. Self-hypnosis is great for improving your prospects in life.
  • Develop greater sales ability. We are all selling, in one way or another, so improvement in this skill can't hurt.
  • Raise academic performance and grades. From F's to A's or obtaining your Ph.D.
  • Overcome shyness, stage fright and other fears.  Become more extroverted and meet new people.
  • Experiment with age- and past-life regression. Whether or not such things exist is a matter of controversy, but what you can do with self-hypnosis can be pretty convincing.

Yoga Therapy (Kriya Yoga)

Kriya yoga in sanskrit means “action of the soul” (“kri”= action of the elements,  “ya”= soul). One of the most important actions of the soul is the act of breathing. The word yoga means “union”, the union of the spirit with the soul. This allows for true karma which only comes from the interaction of the breath and soul. This is what is achieved through kriya yoga.

Kriya is a practice used to achieve the union of the breath and the soul in inhalation and exhalation. It is based on patterns of the breath, the brain and the spinal cord.

The breath is mediating between the soul and the mind, and the brain and spinal cord mediate between the sensory organs and the mind.  Our breathing patterns are always a reflection of our inner thoughts. For instance, when we are scared we breathe very rapidly. When we are relaxed our breathing is slow and calm. Many kinds of emotions can be depicted through the breathing patterns. The key is to maintain calm breathing, because when the breath is calm, the mind will be calm, and the individual will feel relaxed and at peace.

Often during the practice of kriya yoga you will lean over and bend the spine, because this allows for the life force (energy) to flow from the top

of the body through the spine, down to the bottom of the body. During this procedure all the chakras in the body are touched by the life force to create balance and harmony.

Kriya yoga is a process that is hard to describe. Words can only achieve so much as a person will only fully understand what kriya is through experience. Teaching kriya yoga is a slow, gradual process and usually follows six stages. The first kriya stage teaches the foundation of the technique. It teaches you knowledge of the body, chakras (energy centers), and the soul. Once this stage is mastered, you can move on to the higher kriya levels. Since the basics behind kriya yoga are simple, it can be practiced anytime during the day, wherever you like.

Through the yoga, you will learn to control your breathing in every moment with the careful monitoring of inhalation and exhalation. Inhalation is known as the power, while the breath of exhalation is known as the light. Your being is located somewhere between the two, and the breathing process gives you life and energy. Once you master this process, you will find a state of inner peace. We will be able to control outer experiences through inner calmness.

Through the practice of kriya yoga you will also create what is called an inner fire. Just like how real fire burns anything in its path, your inner fire will burn any negative thoughts, actions or psychological problems. Thus through kriya yoga you achieve the ability to deal with life’s many stresses and learn to maintain an inner calmness.

Metaphysical Life Counseling (MLC)

Metaphysical Life Counseling combines Kriya Yoga, A Course In Miracles, Tibetan Buddhism, Chinese Taoism, Celtic Druidism and Native American Animism or Shamanism to help you discover your soul's purpose and finding your way back to peace, happiness, joy and ultimately, LOVE.

A Course In Miracles is a self-study guide book that is split into three sections: the inspired text dictated by The Master or "J", a 365-lesson plan for the student to do one a day over a year and a text for Teachers of A Course In Miracles.  It relies on the premise that "Nothing Real can be Threatened and Nothing Unreal Exists."

Tibetan Buddhism derives from the confluence of Buddhism and yoga which incorporated both Hindu yogic and tantric practices along with the classical teachings of the historical Buddha who lived around 500 BC. It acknowledged that there were two paths to enlightenment taught in the sutras based on morality, concentration, and wisdom (not identifying with the personal ego) while the other path was tantric.

Chinese Taoism is based on the idea that behind all material things and all the change in the world lies one fundamental, universal principle: the Way or Tao. This principle gives rise to all existence and governs everything, all change and all life. The purpose of human life, then, is to live life according to the Tao, which requires passivity, calm, non-striving (wu wei ), humility, and lack of planning, for to plan is to go against the Tao.

Celtic Druidism regards life sacred especially in the groves of trees that provide more than oxygen, lumber and shade.   The druids are known to have taught metempsychosis, or the transmigration of souls--we are reborn in new bodies, sometimes human, sometimes animal. This is not a punishment, unlike in Hinduism or Buddhism, but seen as a natural part of existence. The Celts did not have a philosophy that "this world is evil and must be escaped"--far from it, if the records are to be believed. The Celts were said to be unafraid of death, because of their belief in this rebirth.

Native American Animism or Shamanism is a system of beliefs that all living things are sacred and messages from spirits (beings that crossed over) are available for those that are sensitive to hearing them.

Regardless of your beliefs in an afterlife or universal energy, the metaphysical life counsling session focuses on commonality.  Everyone wants peace.  Everyone wants to love and be loved.  Everyone wants joy, happiness and the contentment of feeling 100% complete and whole all the time (even if the contrary surrounds us in everyone and everything we see and do.)  My guided sessions gets you to combine your thoughts and emotions to create new feelings that help foster new positive beliefs.  We could use hypnotherapy to help you relax your mind and body, massage therapy to relax your body, yoga poses to help you to meditate on being present or Universal Energy Work (Dragon Reiki or Chakra Balancing) to get your spiritual self clear, and all your burdens lifted from your soul. Together we work on undoing any judgmental issues that promote fear, ego, guilt, sin, blame and grudges and what's left but your true nature: Love, Peace, Happiness and Joy.
